The Best Material—Baltic Birch

Slide-out shelves are essentially just drawers. But our slide-outs aren’t just any drawers, they’re constructed of an exceptionally stable plywood called Baltic Birch. What makes Baltic Brich so great? Unlike typical plywood, there are no voids or empty pockets anywhere in the sheet. Moreover, because the grain of the material alternates from one layer to the next, the material remains exceptionally stable over time—no warping, no checking, no splitting—all common problems with typical plywood and even natural lumber.  

Old World Joinery-Dovetails 

Materials aside, top quality drawer boxes are all about the joinery. And if you want drawers that last not one, but several generations, they need to dovetailed—an interlocking joint at each corner. If you’re familiar with antique furniture, you already know how impressive dovetail joinery is. Back in the day, dovetails were cut by hand. These days we have machines that cut them perfectly every time. We have such a machine and use it on every slide-out and drawer box we make.

 Fully Captured Drawer Bottom

To prevent the drawer bottom from pulling away or sagging over time, our slide-outs feature a fully captured bottom in a dado joint along all four sides. The bottom itself is made of easy clean, ¼in melamine on an MDF substrate. It’s tough, durable, and great looking too.

Heavy Duty, Full Extension Drawer Slides

The last ingredient to the perfect slide-out shelf is the drawer slides—the part that bares the load and makes access so easy. We use a side mounted, full-extension drawer slide capable of supporting eighty pounds—that’s a lot of stuff! And because they’re full extension, the back of the slide-out shelf comes all the way to the front frame of your cabinet for truly easy access. 

Do you have a store where I can see your products?

No. We’re a shop at home service. Mostly because we need to do the measuring, but also to save the costs of maintaining a retail center.
